Please report your child's absence by using the Study Bugs App.  The App is free to download and links directly to the school's registers.  StudyBugs is a service we have invested in to support you to gain advice quickly and easily from the health service.  When you type in your child's symptoms, it will provide advice on whether your child actually needs to stay off school.  See https://studybugs.com/ for more information.

Please be aware that attendance is statutory and any illness-related absence must be appropriately documented.  All children are expected to attend school unless there is a genuine medical reason.  We need your help in reaching our attendance target of 97%. 

Our Designated Attendance Lead, Mr Singleton and Inclusion Officer, Miss O’Donnell, are always available to discuss any concerns you may have.  Please contact the school office on 0151 226 1117 to speak to Mr Singleton, or contact Miss O'Donnell on 07933 635130.  You can call or text during normal working hours or request a face-to-face meeting on a Wednesday or Thursday at school.

Our attendance team will let you know if your child is in danger of hitting 90% or less before this happens, so that we can try to avoid this happening.  This will be in the form of a letter or phone call home to inform you of your child’s current percentage. 

If your child’s attendance is below 90%, you will be invited to attend a meeting to discuss how we support you and your child to attend more often. 

A low attendance is classed as persistent absenteeism.  This becomes a real concern for the school, as attendance is part of the wider safeguarding duty for us.  Poor attendance can result in a referral to Social Care and Education Welfare for Legal Sanctions. 

As we all know, every second in school is precious.  The children have missed so much since the beginning of the pandemic and we are determined that we will be able to help them to effectively build on their learning every day.  This can only happen if your child attends school every possible day they can.  Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
