School News 2017 - 2018

17th March - Curriculum Carosel

We welcomed our governors for a 'Curriculum Carosel' evening, where all subject leaders showcased the broad and balanced curriculum that we provide for the children in our school.

1st March - World Book Day

We'd like to thank all the children and their parents for all the effort that was put. We manage to raise £238 that will go to towards new books for the school.

30th October - Year 4 Hockey Competition

Year 4 boys and girls competed in the quick sticks hockey competition.

Both teams were placed and we came 2nd and 3rd.

We will compete on the city final on the 6th of November

6th October - Liverpool FC Academy Football Competition

Congratulations to the children from Year 3 that represented us in Liverpool FC Academy and went on to win the competition.

3rd October - Road Safety Assembly

Jude Lennon from The Bobby Colleran Trust was in the school today talking to the children about the importance of road safety.

25th September - 3P vs 3J Football Competition

Congratulations to 3P for winning the first Year 3 Football Match

20th September - Mini Police Event

The new batch of recruits were invited to spent the day at the Merseyside Police Training centre today. They got to see the horses in the stables, and the Police sniffer dogs.

School News 2016 - 2017

14th July - House Cup Winners

Congratualtions to Venus for winning this years House Cup! It was a close race this year, Venus needed to win Sports Day to secure the two points they needed to overtake Mars.

23rd March - Alice in Wonderland

We welcomed back M amp; M Theatrical Productions as they brought the stage to us with a fantastic performance of Alice in Wonderland.

After the performance Year 5 were invited to stay behind to learn about what goes into making a show like there's

Like how to do a fast costume change in under 10 seconds!

The wonders of pyrotechnics!

How the lights and sound effects are used to make the scenes more dramatic.

All the winner recieved a book of their choice.

28th February - Merseyside Mini Police

Merseyside Police got some new recruits today! 10 Chrildren from Year 5 were selected to join the Merseyside Police Mini Police Unit. Over the next few weeks, this special unit will be on the beat helping Police in the area and engaging with the local community.

To welcome the boys and girls the National Air Police Support (NPAS) helicopter performed a low fly pass over the school which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

After the fly by the whole school got the chance to meet other units of the Merseyside police force.

30th Jan - Nick Sharrat

We had an extra special visitor come to see us today, award winning author and illustrator Nick Sharrat.

Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 were treated with serveral readings from his books and poems.

Some children were asked to come up and play some of the charaters.

Nick gave the children tips on drawing different characters and emotions.

Some illustations where even better Nick's!

After the assembly the children had the opportunity to buy one of Nick's books and get it signed.

19th Jan - Zoolab

We are delighted to Zoolab back to Broad Square! This time year 4, 5 and 6 got to see all there wonderful animals.

They brought with them some of the same criters as before.

They also brought some new faces along...

23rd Nov - Diversity Display

6M, 5E and ... have been working on our new art display that celebrates diversity in the world.

14th Nov - Ready Steady Cook

This morning our kitchen staff hosted Ready Steady Cook, which stared two celebrity chefs... Mrs McNamara and Mrs Parry.

On the Red team we had; Mrs Parry, Daisy and Dylan. They were preparing vegitable stir fry with Thai salmon fish cakes.

and on the Green team we had; Mrs McNamara, Jake and Annie. They were preparing a curried chick peas with cous cous.

While each team were cooking, the rest of the hall learnt how important it is to start each day with breakfast and to have a balanced diet.

and the winner was the green team.

7th Nov - Science2U

The wormen from Science2U where with us today showing us the wonders of light and colours in it's many different forms.

We learnt how fireworks produce there spectacular.colours

We saw the colours of rainbow with these special glasses

26th Sept - Zoolab

Key Stage 1 had the chance today to meet some wonderful critters today. Zoolab brought along with them a millipede...

a bearded dragon...

a family of hissing cockroaches...

a hermit crab...

and the most fearsome animal of them all, the ferocious hampster
